Royal Golf course
This 18-hole course, par 72 is on 6120 meters with ten par 4,
four par 3 and four par 5. In 1923, the Pacha of Marrakech sailed
on a trip to England, where he discovered golf and immediately
became fond of the game to the point of setting up a course
in Marrakech. And so the Marrakech Royal Golf came to life.
In 1933, three pioneers, Arnaud Massy (the only French so far
to have won the British Open in 1907), Gustave Gollias and Bouchaib
Stitou (recordman of the course, 62 in 1940), transformed this
course into a real paradise. Nestled in a thick forest, rich
with eucalyptus, olive, orange and palm trees, with a harmonious
fusion of scents in sumptuous surroundings, this is a challenging
course, especially when a ball lands in the woods! To be long
is problematic on this course, with its well protected greens
and solid slopes. Here a tight solid and precise game is an
advantage.
The Club House is a harmony of elegance and simplicity, with
its low buildings in colonial style, decorated with typically
Arab details and a large open terrace.
Amelkis
Golf course
Amelkis is a garden of tranquillity, far from the maddening
crowd, in the foothills of the Atlas Mountains, only four miles
from La Mamounia. The Magnificent 18-hole golf course, designed
by the acclaimed Cabell B. Robinson and punctuated by groves
of palm trees and payrus reeds, is the natural extension of
Amelkis lifestyle. Its challenging holes will enthrall the most
demanding golfers with its bunkers, rolling terrain, water traps
and exotic rough. The course has integrated the khettaras, 11th-century
irrigation works built by Almoravides hydraulics experts. The
result is a complex of subtle difficulties, situated in an enchanting
setting to help you forget your handicap.
